2008 Prez Elections

Why John McCain will lose his bid for the presidency

I like John McCain and most people do, but they won't vote for him for one reason. He's a HAWK.

We all know war is hell, so why perpetuate it? Iraq wants us to leave. Iran baits us. We spend $10 billion a month on a war nobody thinks we had a right to fight.  Most people think W was finishing the fight in Daddy's war, and nobody trusted him after that, because Osama Bin Laden is still cruising around somewhere. McCain is a throwback to the war hawks of the Viet Nam war who insisted on staying put in that losing battle to "WIN" it.  We didn't win it, we just killed 55,000 young men. McCain was a prisoner of war in that debacle but instead of seeing the light, he harbors incredible hate and anger and wants to continue the fight.  It is his personal battle, not ours. We forgive John McCain his desperate struggle and he deserves our honor and respect, but he's not getting our support for more war.

Now, here's a transcript of his POW experience and why his shoulders are injured. It's a result of injuries incurred when his plane was shot down, subsequent torture and lack of adequate medical care while a POW.

"I knew I was hit. ... I radioed 'I'm hit,' reached up and pulled the ejection seat handle. I struck part of the airplane, breaking my left arm, my right arm in three places, and my right knee, and I was briefly knocked unconscious by the force of the ejection."

...his captors would hang him by his broken arms from dangling ropes for hours on end...

"You're a black criminal. You must confess your crimes." I said that I wouldn't do that, and he asked, "Why are you so disrespectful of guards?" I answered, "Because the guards treat me like an animal."

When I said that, the guards, who were all in the room, about 10 of them-really laid into me. They bounced me from pillar to post, kicking and laughing and scratching. After a few hours of that, ropes were put on me and I sat that night bound with ropes. Then I was taken to a small room. For punishment they would almost always take you to another room where you didn't have a mosquito net or a bed or any clothes. For the next four days, I was beaten every two to three hours by different guards. My left arm was broken again and my ribs were cracked.
