War – What is it good for?

War, continued....

Today is Election Day and I predict McCain will lose because he is a war hawk.

Just yesterday, I heard him on TV saying

“We will win in Iraq and we will win in Afghanistan!”

Win? Win what? Do we take over Iraq and then allow Exxon to move in and build an oil refinery so we ship it to America? Do we get to open a bunch of malls including a Payless shoe store over there because I’ve heard from returning soldiers; the kids don’t have any shoes.

Do we get to build a Disneyland, a Hilton Hotel, and a MacDonald’s?

Do we make them another state like Hawaii? And, can we tax them?

What does he mean by win the war?

Nobody wins a war.  We just have ‘regime changes’ and then a power struggle and then another war.

I’m sorry if John McCain wins the election because only the Defense Department wins.  They win by keeping their kabillion dollar budget, keeping their military employed, and building more bombs.

Meanwhile, the rest of us get to watch it on TV, like a bad reality show. Sure, the casualties are less, but the psychological trauma on these vets remains the same.

Another thing I saw on TV was a 6 year old girl who said, “I hope John McCain doesn’t win because he wants to keep the war going for another hundred years…”

She knows.

We are not a red and blue America; we are a black and blue America
