The ObamaRama

I love that Prez Elect Obama stays in touch with me. He emails me, he sends me updates on Facebook, and I feel ‘connected,’ and I suppose therein lies his m.o.

There is currently a 79 percent approval rating for Obama, the highest in years, and its speaks volumes about the charisma and energy of the man.

Why an Inauguration ticket is hotter than going to the Superbowl, especially in Freeze Zone subzero DC, amazes me. Of course, he’s the first Black President, and of course, this is part of an American dream, but hopefully, further into his presidency, we will come to see Obama, the Man, and not the Black Man.

Because, Obama is half White, and is part of a growing demographic of mixed raced Americans, the “Melting Pot,” is a true statement, and frankly, I believe is evidence of evolution and a superior race to come. At least, I like to think of melting pot Americanos as the antidote to Hitler’s Master Race. I’m all Irish, so I’m painfully aware of genetics. I can’t get a tan, I have a predisposition to alcoholism, and you know, I keep dentists rich.

I’m also a lapsed Catholic and study Buddhism, druidism, psychology, yoga, and a whole host of “new age’ holistic religions and therapies, looking to correct all that ails me. So, I like that there’s not only a racial and ethnic mix, but sensitivities toward all things NOT Christian. Personally, I’m tired of Christian bondage and Domination in American Politics, and hopefully, there will more compassion and tolerance for Muslims, atheists, and witches. I, myself, am trying to start a new religion – Intellitronics, an electronic, internet based religion that preaches intelligence, enlightenment, tolerance, and free thinking. You, too, can join my movement for $29.95; have your credit card ready.

There was an explosive outrage when Prez Elect Obama chose The Rev. Rick Warren, the megachurch pastor to say the Invocation at his party. I wasn’t outraged. This man sold millions and millions of books, A Purpose Driven Life, (http://www.rickwarren.com/)

I saw this as a shrewd political move on Obama’s part to appease those Christians who felt marginalized by his camp. We cannot exclude Christians because of their beliefs no more than we can exclude Muslims, but that won’t stop people from trying.

Obama is a positive thinker. He’s a Uniter, not a Divider. This is evidenced by a remark he made about the departing President Bush. “He’s a good guy,” said Obama with no qualification. No parting shots, no resentments, no negativity, whatsoever. I was impressed. I have trouble with positive thinking since it is often a tough sell to my crabby, pessimystical self.

Obama knows the key to success is to remain respectworthy, by being respectful, smart, positive, and on task. He has conquered the Observer, the Zen self that watches what one says and does so as to avoid the sins and human errors that destroy us all. He is not a robot, fortunately, though so many in governments become so. I watched him on TV and he misspoke, seemed tired, overwhelmed, and he had my sympathy. Get some sleep, Oh Great White Father.

Frankly, I just hope nobody shoots him. I remember JFK’s assassination all too well, and if I see that Darryl Zapruder film one more time, I might shoot myself. We don’t need another martyr; we need a hands-on, smart and enlightened president to navigate the dark and murky waters of the United States of disarray in the next few years.

I can only pray for Obama’s enlightenment to lead the way, and I will enthusiastically applaud the ObamaRama that occurs this week because, I am Black and I’m Proud. Well, I’m a White Girl, but we are a black and blue country, and again, let’s put the Race Card away for once and for all. Once, a Jewish girl said to me, “We have stop being SO Jewish…we have to blend in…and not be separatists and martyrs and such…” And, I remember thinking, yeah, that’s the way to go, Israel. Blend, not bomb.

And, now an important message from Barack: "The future of this movement" I have some exciting news to share about the future of this grassroots movement.

I recorded a personal message for you. Please take a minute to watch the video:

What you built can't stop now. Together with our partners at the Democratic National Committee and its new chairman, Governor Tim Kaine, this movement will continue organizing and bringing new people into the political process.

The challenges facing our country are too great, and our journey to change America is just beginning.

I look forward to working side-by-side with you in the months and years ahead.

Thanks,

Barack
